Styron offers low-cis polybutadiene rubber (BR) obtained from anionic polymerization using an organo-lithium initiator, Styron low-cis BR are predominantly used to manufacture high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) or mass ABS (mass polymerization of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymers). The higher vinyl in low-cis BR content facilitates grafting, resulting in improved efficiency and excellent end-product properties, namely a good balance between impact strength and gloss.
