Styron's (Styron) high-cis polybutadiene rubber (BR) series has over 95% cis content, produced using a catalyst system based on nickel. High-cis BR grades possess good abrasion and flex-cracking resistance characteristics, low hysteresis as well as excellent low temperature resilience. They are used in tire tread and sidewall compounds, conveyor belts, footwear and in a variety of mechanical goods requiring good dynamic properties, e.g. golf ball cores.
