This report recognizes the dedicated efforts of Styron’s world-class people. Through their efforts, our operations and products contribute to sustainability – for Styron, our customers, our employees, the communities in which we operate, and society as a whole.
As Styron matures and evolves as a newly formed company, one thing remains constant: Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility continue to be important priorities for our company.
We are proud to have achieved an excellent safety and environmental record in our first two years of operations. In fact, our performance has continued to improve every year for our key metrics: personal safety incidents, losses of primary containment (LOPC) and process safety incidents.
This 2012 report is an update to our first Sustainability/CSR Report, which was published in June 2011 at the one-year anniversary of the company’s formation. New content in this report includes:
- Updated graphs on our 2011 performance on key safety metrics,
- Additional sustainability success stories.
Looking to the future, as the number of years we have been in business increases, Styron’s reports will become more data-based. In 2013, we will have access for the first time to data on energy, water, emissions, waste and other metrics. We plan to add sections in our Sustainability/CSR Report to address these topics in 2013.
